Qatar & Dates

Dates are not just a Fruit, it is a part of the Qatar Culture. Dates are served at all events in the this Region— whether that be a wedding or funeral or  just a family meeting. Dates are the most important agricultural crop in irrigable desert lands of Qatar. The date palms are one of the oldest trees, distributed throughout regions that provide suitable climatic conditions for the growth of the trees. Dates are the first agricultural export product of Qatar. Every year producing more than 30,000 metric tons.

Why Dates?

Dates are an important source of nutrition in the food diet of the local population in Qatar. Fresh dates are rich in simple sugars like fructose and dextrose. On consumption, they replenish energy quickly to the body.

Dates contain vitamins such as B1, B2, B3 and B5, as well as A1 and C. If you have a few dates every day, you won’t have to take vitamin supplements. Not only will it keep you healthy. Date fruits are also rich in minerals like calcium, manganese, copper, Iron and magnesium. Calcium is an important mineral that is an essential constituent of bone and teeth, and required by the body for muscle contraction, blood clotting, and nerve impulse conduction.
